It's easy to make an anki extension
As the title says. The clanker gave me this today after I couldn't find an extension that would simply flash the elapsed time after reviewing a flashcard.
The only real thing to do is to find the addons21 folder, make a folder within that with the extension name, and create __init__.py within that. I will definitely play around with these more in the future.
from aqt import gui_hooks
from aqt.utils import tooltip
def flash_time(reviewer, card, *args):
tooltip(f"{card.time_taken() / 1000:.1f} s", period=1200)
# Flash when you reveal the answer (recall time):
# gui_hooks.reviewer_did_show_answer.append(lambda card: flash_time(None, card))
# ...or instead, flash after you grade (total review time):
gui_hooks.reviewer_did_answer_card.append(flash_time)
This is obviously something I would have learned by reading the Anki Docs for addon development, but they are quite unwieldy on quick glance. Knowing it's actually easy to make little changes like this means I'll hold the possibility in my head in the future and actually consider doing it.
